About the Artist
Hey there! I’m Hailey McGuire, a practicing artist and art educator born and raised in West Virginia. I currently reside in Morgantown, where I earned my BFA in Painting from West Virginia University in 2020 and my MA in Art Education/Certificate in Art Therapy in 2024.
My studio practice is deeply informed by the complexities of the human experience, including spirituality, trauma, and personal transformation. Through painting, I seek to create spaces for reflection and healing—places where emotion, memory, and meaning can coexist. Rather than adhering to rigid rules or predetermined techniques, I allow my work to evolve organically, embracing chance, intuition, and unpredictability. This process-driven approach generates movement and energy that mirrors the constant flux of life itself.
Alongside my studio work, I am a current T.A.B. (Teaching for Artistic Behavior) art educator in West Virginia, where I work to challenge and expand traditional perceptions of art education. My teaching centers on self-guided visual research journaling, empowering students to investigate their own questions, experiences, and identities through art. Through both my artwork and my teaching, I aim to foster connection, empathy, and a deeper understanding of ourselves and one another—reminding us that we are navigating this ever-changing world together.
You can follow my work on social media and visit my shop to explore artwork that is wearable, hangable, and made to live with you—extending the studio beyond the canvas and into everyday life.
